Am I A man of God?

I was reading in 2 Kings recently and this struck me as a powerful question to ask of myself from time to time. King Ahaziah was looking for answers to a severe health issue. He had considered going to inquire of an idol. Elijah was tipped off by an angel of God that the king was looking to an idol god for help.

He confronted the king’s men, "Why are you going to Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, to ask whether the king will get well? Is there no God in Israel?” (2 Kings 1:3) Elijah was willing to stake his life on the fact that his God was the only true God and that he could faithfully represent Him. Elijah further responds to the king’s men, "If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and destroy you and your fifty men!” Fire did fall and killed every one of them. (v.10) Elijah was confident enough of his position with God that He could offer this test before the watching world.
Do I have confidence enough in God to let Him prove Himself before unbelievers? Am I willing to put the question up to God in front of people like Elijah had done? What would happen? Have I so surrendered personal pride that I am not afraid of what would happen? This is what God is calling me and all men to be willing to do –give Him opportunities to prove Himself to a world that is clueless of His sovereignty and omnipotence. But we have to be willing to put our own fears and reputations aside.
The next time you hear of someone who is sick or looking for answers will you and I offer to represent God and let Him show Himself as true and capable? Lets truly be Men of God!
